Water is an essential part of life – every day. Staying hydrated in the summer can be difficult, and it can be especially so for the homeless. As temperatures rise, the Nashville Rescue Mission (@nashvillerescuemission) distributes cold bottled water from its Hot Patrol Van to the homeless and encourages them to seek shelter, refreshment, and spiritual guidance. This is a potentially life-saving act, and it requires up to 3,000 bottles of water per day to meet the current need.
In the current environment with COVID-19, MTALA is unable to perform its customary hands-on community outreach projects but the chapter was still eager to help. When this need became known to the MTALA Board, there was overwhelming support to provide assistance. The chapter enlisted the help of Pettus Office Products, a long-time business partner to MTALA, to deliver 3,500 bottles of water to the Mission in July. A second delivery is scheduled for August. Many thanks to Pettus (@pettusop) for their continued support of MTALA and especially for their assistance with this project! @ALABuzz
